| What could be
better than the Dvorak layout? |
For typists who have the use of both hands-nothing! But for people who have
the use of only one hand, the ANSI standard Dvorak layout falls far short of
perfection. After all, it was designed to make optimum use of both hands. That's
why August Dvorak created the Dvorak one hand layouts. The layout shown below is
for left hand typists. (The right hand layout is similar, but for the most
part a mirror image.) |

Check it out. The anchor keys are DTHE. All of the most common letters are
within easy reach. In fact, the only difficult reaches are Q, K, X, and Z. A one
hand typist can easily touch type using the appropriate single hand layout. (We
will show the Dvorak right hand layout in a future issue of Striking Home.) And
just like the Dvorak two hand layout, the single hand layouts are free. Find out
more inside the next issue of Striking Home. |
