DVORAK IN THE NEWS...

The Boston Globe (January 15, 1996, page 29) carried a feature story about the Dvorak layout called Different Strokes Catch On. Written by Peter J. Howe of the Globe staff, this comprehevsive story is one of the best we have read in the popular press.

nine to five (September/October 1995, page 14), a business news magazine based in Kingston, Ontario published a story written by Lionel Munn. Titled Why I Killed QWERTY, it gives an excellent overview of the Dvorak layout and its history.

Toronto Computes (February 1996. page 17) printed a series of stories about RSIs and computing. The lead story, The Keys to RSI Prevention? was primarily about the advantages of using the Dvorak layout. Written by Clive Eastwood. The URL for the Feb. 96 issue that contains the article is: http://www.canadacomputes.com/tc/feb96/p17feb961.html

The popular PBS program The News Hour with Jim Lehrer aired a story on January 18, 1996. Titled Path to Success, the story is primarily about Apple and Microsoft, but contains a section about the Dvorak layout. (See The President's Corner, this issue.)

Newsweek (February 19, 1996, page 48) had a story by Steve Wozniak called How We Failed Apple. It contained a reference to the Dvorak layout.

The Saturday Evening Post (June 1996, page 64) printed a story called 2005: Computers in Our Future. Written by John Eckhouse, it has a few paragraphs about the Dvorak option. Perhaps more significant is the advertizement for Dvorak keyboards by Synctronics on page 67.

Wired (April 1996, page 32) carried an item in Rants & Raves written by Billy Grassie about the Dvorak layout and RSIs.

Thanks to Loinell Munn, Clive Eastwood, Michael Kaufman, Jim Gibson, and Billy Grassie for their submissions to this department. We are always on the lookout for stories and articles written about the Dvorak layout. If you come across one, please bring it to our attention. Include a photocopy of the article if possible.Teeny Tiny Dvorak Logo
